Creating and submitting videos

By slick666 - Posted on 21 May 2008

I was just wondering what your process is for creating these videos. I've had some free time and I thought it would be cool to create a video or two and submit them for your review and (hopefully) post.

I was also wondering if there had been any thought into organizing for distribution. With each distro having it's own variations I can see these videos getting confusing if many different distros are used or there are multiple videos for doing the same thing but in different distros.

My initial thought is that the videos might be typically limited to just a few of the most popular distros not because we don't like the other distros but just to help keep things clear.

From Distro watch the current top 5 distros are
1 Ubuntu
2 PCLinuxOS
3 openSUSE
4 Fedora
5 Mint

Actually that first video you saw was just a recorded session from vmware on a MAC (i know, im sorry) at work using ishowU. There is of course plenty of open sourse solutions for recording native sessions in linux, like istanbul. That one is even available in the repos of Ubuntu and Fedora. As for distro organization, i have started some form of organization, CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, and sub categories underneath that. And i agree with you completely, we need to keep it to the main distros, ones that derivatives can still use the same instructions. If you have any videos you would like to post, just email them to me for now, later i will build a form to process those. Thank you for the interest and help.
